I’ll definitely admit here-it did seem when Ludiosis appeared in our scene, this guy definitely did come into land-seemingly out of nowhere-yet arriving fully formed as a brilliantly talented artist with an astonishing range of musical styles within his musical armoury. An artist who appreciates and cares about music as most around our community does-this is an example of why most of us play music in the first place-for the love of music. They say if you love what you do, you’ve found the key to happiness. Success may seem like the goal if you want to gain happiness, but if you are happy doing what you do, you’ve already achieved that “success”- it’s the happiness you have when you’ve fully gone through that creative process and journey to arrive at the point where a piece of music of your own is created. So my first introduction to Ludiosis music was when the track “Fire” appeared on a driven playlist-ahh cool. This was a grungy slow burner. I really enjoyed that track.
Now we have “Coming In to Land” and here is a whole new level of awesome. Great guitar tones on this song. Just the right amount of metallic distortion and those stop start rhythmic excursions, the short double kick bursts and snare hits from the drums as the rhythm guitars follow are definitely moments of wow. As well as these flourishes, there’s a definite sense of power pop sensibility in those sublime guitar arpeggios and vocal melodies utilised here. It’s an exquisite balance. We have a metallic insistence and urgency in the rhythms while underpinning this is great songwriting skills and a luscious melodic shape to the music. This song definitely comes in to land. We have found a songwriter who has already arrived-and another reason to be proud to belong to our community.
