Chillin's "Family Album" is a heartwarming experience as a whole- an enchanting album depicting a deep connection to family life with each member of this family as valued and as cherished as the other-every song is brimful of the strong unity and bond shared within. This album is an exceptional (yet an obviously heartfelt and meaningful) work of art from this trio which consists of two sisters and a family friend. "Fearless" is certainly a piece that immediately pierced through these ears with an almost waltz like 3 over 4 polyrhythmic feel-this is a spectacular choice and demonstrates the courage and confidence spoken of in the lyrics as to get "here" there were "so many things you had to beat" but the composer is in awe as "defying the odds, leading the way, you sailed on through"- the protagonist of this song sees her own strength she has when holding this "fearless and free" child in her arms. During every verse, all the refrains and the bridge-there is so much pride and joy resounding throughout. That bass drum giving a four to the floor anchors this piece while the lyrics are sung in a bouncing and dancing three... “Fearless" conveys the characteristics of this word- as well as the family member this song is portraying-absolutely brilliantly. There's even a hint of an upbeat version of the Beatles "Hey Jude" within this song -the ebullient and bouncing "na na na na" back and forth call and response vocals all in three... This is an uplifting and emotionally charged song from an album filled with moments like these. Chillin' displays a wealth of family pride here.
