“Timeless Reason”-what an apt title to describe exactly why this indie duo utterly deserves to be celebrated. A very meaningful song with plenty of layers to hear within which showcases all the exceptional songwriting skills that R-an-D have acquired over their lives. The underlying theme which runs throughout this piece is that endings are not always endings. Endings are also new beginnings and evolutions. During autumn (or fall depending on where you live) and winter leaves and flowers may fall and return to the earth seemingly hidden, yet we also know that during springtime those leaves and flowers begin to come out of hiding and our planet is renewed, fresh and abundant with life. This song expresses this sentiment so much better than mere words here-as Ryan and Diana have lived this experience and have come to the realisation that their art and their music has been what brought them together and that through music there can still remain that mutual connection in which they can co-exist. “Timeless Reason” is a beautiful piece of music which develops this theme both lyrically and musically so very well-an excellent showcase of both Ryan and Diana’s individual skills and an example that when these two talents are combined-pure beauty is often the result. The vocals from Diana convey a lyrical conversation had between the two with a level of tenderness and understanding which as a vocal melody reflects this brilliantly. The musical structure of this piece is built exquisitely- beginning with a single voice on the first two words “Hey Girl” with a hint of keyboard synth line underneath subtly giving an exquisite backdrop which as the song develops paints quite an elegantly beautiful and atmospheric melodic tonal picture. The drums seem to arrive in with a wonderfully gentle tone-not bombastic drumming, but more of an equally tender and strong balance here. There’s also the bass guitar line of which needs mentioning-this is a beautifully crafted and well thought out bass line, smooth and flowing. Also worth mentioning once again is the songwriting skills on display-Diana’s vocals are harmonised on exactly the right phrases punctuating the lyrics with most meaning with a harmonious and full tone-musically and production wise this adds so much more weight to the lyrics which hold the most depth. Together here, both Ryan and Diana have crafted such a work of beauty and grace- as well as showing their deep understanding of the connection that is between one another is still there in the music. Not an ending. An evolution and a realisation. So grateful that these two have created this stunning piece of music, and that they both continue to be part of our indie community together as R-an-D and Db Productions is a testament to just how amazing they both are.
