So grateful we have such a rich and plentiful supply of unique and musically gifted artists who ultimately give us all reason to feel that we belong to something truly magnificent- daily reminders that ours is one extraordinary community. The Feral Housecats certainly fit all of the above, although I’d probably also have to say these guys are definitely a unique breed of indie artist-genuinely entertaining quite humorous yet with very clever compositional skills. This track has been a favourite on first listen (and obviously these fellows don’t really have U2 on their list of favourites) so I was genuinely glad to see its return on the Feral Housecats latest album “Go Feral Yourself”. This updated version packs a punch- a faster tempo gives this well crafted song an extra edge- a song which sees us thrown nostalgically back in time to a moment in a record store with your girlfriend and while in a world of your own thumbing through albums to decide which to purchase, you have your concentration disturbed with a tap on the shoulder from your girlfriend as she is holding up a record with your least favourite band on it…well the title of this song is exactly what you’d say ”I love you…but I hate U2!” which may be taken by your girlfriend as an odd thing to say but when she looks at the artist on the cover…ooooh! Great turn of phrase and a brilliantly written piece of music. Love this version. Definitely do yourself a favour and check out The Feral Housecats’ catalog-these are an excellent example of the amount of indie artists who give all involved in this indie community plenty of reason to be proud.
