Greetings music lovers!!! My name is Ray Johnson, I am a singer/songwriter from St. Charles, IL. I thank you for your interest in my work. I have been writing songs and performing music for many many years and my catalog consists of nearly 200 songs. The most accurate way to describe my music is to summarize it as music and lyric writing influenced by the “jangly pop” sounds of the 60’s and lyric writing styles of the 70’s singer/songwriters. It is a wonderful blend of both. Although my influences are “retro” in their creation, my delivery and performances are competitive with today's current sound. My ability to blend each of these decades can be heard in each song leaving the audience captivated by each song’s meaning, rhythm and beat. As you listen to my songs, you will realize that I have the ability to write strong lyrics through solid storytelling. Using strong imagery, exceptional use of metaphors and similes, I am able to create music within numerous genres ranging from soft acoustic ballads/love songs to acoustic pop/rock folk pieces that are memorable, enjoyable and appealing. My vocals are above average and my musicianship is well developed through the use of exceptional melody lines, both vocally and instrumentally. Currently, as I continue to promote myself and my music as an artist, I am also writing songs with the goal of finding placements for my songs in TV & Film.
